Is an iPad better Than a Laptop?
According to Statistia, there are 1.23bn tablet users worldwide and 28% of them are iPad users. This means that there are about 344million iPad users worldwide and the number has steadily been growing since its launch.

But what do you think this growth means for laptops? Does it mean that laptops will go out style? Or is it that iPads are just better?
To decide, we have to first know why the iPad was created in the first place.
Why The Was iPad Created
Steve Jobs envisioned the iPad to be in between a phone and a laptop. He wanted to make something that would be better at music, videos, photos and ebooks.
So if this was the intention for its creation, why do people think that is comparable to a laptop? Well, this is because of the invention of apps like the apps you can use to write and edit documents or even edit photos with.
These features began to blur the lines for some people, especially those who don’t really do anything technical with their laptops in the first place.
But we still haven’t answered if an iPad actually better than a laptop?
So to settle this score, we are going to compare an iPad to a laptop, by listing out what either one can do that the other can’t.
What Can An iPad Do That A Laptop Can’t?
- Since viruses operate by moving from app to app, the iPadOS puts a firewall which prevents any virus from penetrating the device.
- It is difficult for malware to get in since the Apple store has total control of what software you add to your iPad.
- Its processor chip is almost on the same level as an Intel i5 and i7, therefore, making it more affordable than a laptop of the same performance.

What Can A Laptop Do That An iPad Can’t?
- You can connect multiple monitors and multitask. Also, a laptop’s monitor is much bigger than an iPad’s which is perfect for people who need run code, edit movies and do other technical stuff which an iPad can’t.
- Laptops can be upgraded by adding additional storage to it hence increasing its lifespan, unlike iPads which can only support external flash drives.
- You can play your DVD and Blu-ray discs without the hassle of having to convert them into digital formats.
- If you are a techie, you need a laptop to help you build apps. An iPad can’t help you with that.
- A laptop has full printing support. You can print anything you want and even preview your printing which is not permissible on an iPad.
- A laptop allows you to host servers and databases.
- You can play laptop-only games like War of Warcraft on it.
- You can use a mouse on a laptop regardless of whether or not it is a touchscreen.
- Laptops and Desktops are mostly designed for work while an iPad was designed for fun.
Our Verdict
Having seen both capabilities, it is clear that an iPad is NOT better than a laptop as they were invented to do different things.
The only way an iPad can become better is if developments are made towards holographic computing which will then remove the need for a laptop.
