Windows 10 – The Best and Notable Features

Windows 10 is one of the best versions of the legendary operating system ever. And it comes with a plethora of features. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that not every user has been exposed to all Windows 10 tips and tricks. In this article, we shall unravel such Windows 10 features that are known only to a few. Put on your seat belts and get ready to transform yourself into a power user.

GodMode

GodMode for Windows 10 gives you access to 200+ new god-like powers. It doesn’t save you from blue screens or give you unlimited lives. But it does expose some tools to play with and additional features. It brings up a special menu that plants a lot of settings in one place.

On your root drive create a new folder and rename it to “GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}” To enable GodMode. It will create a special icon on your Desktop that when you click on it shows you an advanced control panel.

Hey Cortana

Now we can simply ask Cortana anything. To do that, we first have to enable it to respond to the sound of our voice by saying “Hey Cortana”. We may be asked to set up our microphone to use this feature.

 Click the search box to the right of the Start button to set up Cortana. A dialog box pops up. On the upper right corner of Cortana’s window click the menu icon. Select Menu – – Settings. Now Toggle “Let Cortana respond to ‘Hey Cortana.’” to configure it.

Virtual Desktop

Windows 10 has a valuable feature called virtual desktops. If you use your computer for both personal and work usage you can use this feature. You have to open the task view to make a new desktop. It can be done in two ways. Click on the button right next to the search field on the taskbar or Press Win key + Tab. And, you have to hit the ‘+’ button that says New desktop. By pressing Ctrl + Win + right/ left arrow key it is possible to switch between desktops.

Spatial Sound

Windows 10 offers a virtual surround sound format that can make the audio coming from your headphones or speakers feel more rich and atmospheric. The effectiveness of the feature depends on your equipment.

You can easily enable this feature from the sound icon in your notification area. Select Windows Sonic for Headphones by Right-clicking on the speaker icon and point to Spatial sound.

If you don’t see an option to enable spatial sound, your device doesn’t support it. This option won’t be available if you’re using built-in laptop speakers.

Near Share

This “Near Share” or “Nearby Sharing” feature works more like Apple’s AirDrop. And it allows you to send files, links, photos, and more to nearby Windows 10 PCs over Bluetooth.

 You cannot share from a mobile or other operating systems. You can enable Nearby Sharing from either Windows 10’s Settings app or in Windows 10’s Share dialog.

To enable Nearby Sharing from the Settings app, head to Settings – System – Shared Experiences and turn on the “Nearby Sharing” toggle.

Files you receive via Nearby Sharing are saved to Downloads folder by default, but we can change that in the Settings. You can also choose who can share it with you. 

Your Phone

Do you want to access your smartphone’s SMS messages, photos, calls, notifications, and more, directly from your Computer? With the built-in Your Phone app on Windows 10, it is possible. Your Phone app enables users to share data between their phone and PC with ease.

Sandbox

Windows Sandbox is a lightweight virtual machine, a tool often used by researchers and developers to test new software within a controlled atmosphere. Virtualization creates an entire virtual computer, complete with the operating system, memory, and storage, within your existing Windows PC.  

One of the ideas behind Sandbox is not to put our personal information out into the world, so don’t be tempted to log in with our account. None of our third-party software will appear either. Note that only one instance of Windows Sandbox is allowed at a time.
